Sania Mirza, right, defeated USA's Laura Granville 6-3 7-5 to advance to the third round of a grand slam for the first time in two years. The names in this half of the draw- Nadia Petrova, Martina Hingis, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Patty Schnyder- are totally ignored to the steam engine in the very bottom slot: the number two seed and defending champion Maria Sharapova who had a 6-1 and 6-0 set in both the first and this round.
